Deckhand - Linehaul

DIVISION – Tennessee Valley Towing

Location- Paducah, KY, NO RELOCATION NECESSARY!

Job Summary:

A Deckhand is responsible for the preparation, oversight and maintenance of barges and vessels. The individual will be responsible for working a continuous schedule of 28 days on the vessel, with 14 days off.

What you’ll do:

  • Build and check tow by utilizing various tools/equipment including but not limited to wrenches, ratchets, shackles, chain straps and wires/cables.
  • Move and stack sets of rigging throughout the vessel and barges.
  • Move pumps and hoses about the barges and place hoses in wing tank/void for removal of water.
  • Assist with the stocking and delivery of various supplies.
  • Complete skiff operations to allow the crew to go ashore and come aboard the vessel.
  • Put out sounders at the head of the barge (river division). Complete processes to allow the vessel to take on fuel (inland division).
  • Complete daily and periodic cleaning tasks including but not limited to trash removal, mopping, scraping, sanding and painting.

What you’ll need:

  • Must have transportation to and from our headquarters (Paducah, KY) for crew change.
  • Must be able to work on the vessel for a period of 28 days.
  • Possess The Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) from the Transportation Security Administration.

    Job Summary:

    What you’ll do:

    Shipyard Laborer/Deckhand

    DIVISION – Paducah River Service

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Serve as an additional deckhand during winter and adverse conditions while performing laborer duties the remainder of time.
    • Promptly attend morning meetings and board vessel for transportation to work location.
    • Perform equipment start-ups in preparation of work duties.
    • Assist crane operator with the removal/placement various materials such as barge covers and skid pans by performing rigging requirements.

    Welder/Grinder

    DIVISION – Big River Propeller

    Job Summary:

    The candidate will be responsible for repairing propellers by safely operating air grinders and Arc/MIG welders. You may be performing duties within dry-docks or inside of the fabrication shop.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Must promptly arrive and attend daily meetings to receive daily work assignments.
    • Be able to operate heavy equipment such as fork truck and overhead crane to transport materials to appropriate location.
    • Must be able to weld propeller blades by Arc and MIG weld process.
    • Grind and polish propeller blades by means of an air grinder. This task is accomplished under direction of a senior employee in a safe manner.
    • Maintain a neat workspace and complete basic cleaning duties such as sweeping and discarding trash.

    Job Summary:

      What you’ll do:

      • Ensure all vessel operations are conducted in the safest possible manner.

      • Assist with incidents and investigations.
      • Inspect and ensure the tow is properly wired and all rigging is tight in accordance with Company rigging requirements.
      • Ensure vessel’s interior and exterior are well maintained, clean and orderly.
      • Perform barge inspections to ensure company policies are met as outlined in company’s TSMS.
      • Perform quarterly vessel inspections on each vessel.
